The love of my life, my partner for over 40 years is in a little trouble. It seems an old foe, or better put, an old enemy has come to call on her again after 19 years of nearly perfect health. Cancer, a disease that seems to choose without discrimination, logic or reason; whether the recipient is an inherently good or bad person, rich or poor, lives a healthy lifestyle, eats wholesome foods, exercises regularly, believes in a higher power or perhaps indulges in none of these factors, appears to be of no correlation to one another.
Surely, a healthy body is a big asset, however it still does not seem to make a difference. If we cross paths with cancer then we must fight to rid ourselves of it, at least for a certain amount of time. If we are careful and prudent enough to keep tabs on our general health through periodic check-ups, as in my wife's case, we can foil the villain, arrest it's progress, and hopefully do our best to eliminate it entirely through early detection.

As for Carol's course, tests have been performed, prognoses made and options have been presented for her consideration. Weighing the percentages and risk factors concerning the outcome of each path available to her, she has reached a difficult decision. Though her decision for surgery was not an easy one, it remains the best choice for her longevity and well being. It is a choice that will hopefully guarantee that this unwanted visitor will never knock on my wife's door, ever again.
Carol, through thick and thin, know that you will always be loved wholeheartedly by your family and friends. You always have and continue to hold a warm place in all of our hearts. I know I can speak for all of us when saying that we hope and pray for a speedy recovery and to finally put this one behind us once and for all.
As for myself, whatever comes down your path in this life, no matter what, I'll always be there for you. I love you Carol. Forever.
